How to Do It Yourself for the Greenest Bermudagrass on Your Street!
Don’t try to control weeds that are already in your lawn. It is a waste of money if you go buy post emergent herbicides to try to kill them. Mow or pull them and instead spend your money on post-emergent herbicides that prevent them so they never happen in the first place. Properly putting down pre-emergements at the schedule I provided will eliminate all your weeds from ever growing. Dense thick grass will choke out weeds. Keeping your lawn cut short every 2 weeks will also keep the weeds away. Don’t give weeds the opportunity to grow.
Crabgrass germinates after 5 days of 55-degree soil temperatures. Find the current soil temp here https://www.greencastonline.com/tools/soil-temperature. If you don’t see weeds popping up as temperatures rise you are in good shape.
There is really no reason you need to identify weeds if you are using the pre-emergent schedule specified. You will never see any weeds. If you do then the post-emergent specified will take care of them. If you still want to identify what type of weed it was just for your own curiosity then you can use this site: https://www.weedalert.com/search-by-region-results.php?region=4
If you have new sod or have put down grass seeds, do not use pre-emergent. Bermuda is a weed and will be treated the same way by the preemergent. Will prevent it from growing.
