April 1 #

• On April 1 ideally, 2nd light coat of PGF Complete 16-4-8 fertilizer.
• A white grub preventative so you don’t have grass damage in a few months caused by them eating the roots of the grass underground. Right now grubs are close to the surface and feeding so you can kill them. I switched to Duocide Insecticide Control with carbaryl (for grubs) and bifenthrin (for beetles, moths, and other insects) which will kill above and below the surface of the lawn. Carbaryl alone kills both above and below so bifenthrin is great as an added pesticide that remains in the grass layer. There are many pesticides that say they can kill grubs but they don’t. Late April #

• Add mulch to your flowerbeds in late April to insulate and hold in water for your shrubs, flowerbeds, and trees.  Also helps prevent weeds around them. You can add a light coat of pre-emergent on top of new mulch to help retain a strong weed barrier.
