Why you should never buy grass seeds from Home Depot or Lowes to fix bare spots or damage

There are over 50 varieties of Bermuda grass in the US.  The grass seeds you buy at Home Depot or Lowes from Scotts or Pennington is not the same as what is on your lawn which is often “Common Bermuda” or “Tifway 419 Bermuda”. If the seed even works, it will form a patch of different looking grass.  Color, texture, shape, it will all look different.  Instead buy sod that your home builder buys from or take runners or patches of grass from your lawn and transplant them in the bare spots.  They will grow much faster than seeds.

If you really want to use the big box store seeds, there are 2 that have really worked well for me and tend to blend in well with Common Bermuda.
